Peninsula
The Peninsula project was arguably the most sought after furniture contract in the North during 2010: A new headquarters for over 600 people in a high profile building with a cutting edge interior scheme. We had been working with the interior design team for 18 months to suggest options and proposals before the project went out to tender in late Summer 2009. Due to the economic climate at the time, this project drew a huge amount of attention from far and wide and was eventually tendered out to ten companies across the UK and internationally.
The project tender was split into two sections; the first covered the desking, office chairs / storage and the second package was a large and varied package for the soft seating, meeting / breakout areas. Ralph Capper Interiors were short listed to the final three and asked to provide mock-ups of both our proposals at the client’s new headquarters, for presentation to the project team.
After a unanimous vote, Ralph Capper Interiors were officially appointed as consultants and furniture suppliers for the project in December 2009. Over the weeks and months that followed, we worked with the designers and the client to refine detailed requirements in our role as furniture consultants. We discussed project installation timetables and also conducted a storage audit to ascertain their exact storage requirements by individual department. The soft seating / meeting / breakout furniture was to be an iconic mix of present and future classics echoing the style of the famous Sanderson Hotel by Philippe Starck. There was a clear intention to use British furniture where possible, which was realised through careful planning and consideration. Ultimately, the furniture contract was made up of over 20 different manufacturers, the majority of whom are British.
We installed the Peninsula project over approximately 7 weeks, completing in June 2010 in accordance with the requirements of the site programme. Considering the vast quantities of products and manufacturers involved, the client was pleasantly surprised at how few problems and snags were encountered throughout. We continue to service the ongoing requirements of Peninsula Business Services and have a great ongoing relationship.
This project won Mixology North Commercial Project of the Year 2010.
